Churchill Gardens Primary Academy is a warm and friendly school. Families choose our school from Westminster, Southwark, Hammersmith & Fulham and Kensington & Chelsea because our pupil results are excellent, our music is exceptional, and our enrichment programme is the best in the borough.
Applications to join the academy (Year 1 - Year 6)
Parents or guardians who would like to apply for a place at Churchill Gardens at any time other than Reception or nursery, will need to apply using the Bi-Borough in-year application form. You can find the Bi-Borough Primary In-Year Common Application Form, by selecting the link below:
Once an application has been received by the Bi-Borough Admissions Team, it will be forwarded to Churchill Gardens for a decision as to whether a place can be offered. If we are unable to offer a place, the child’s name will be placed on a waiting list in accordance with the published admissions criteria.
Applications to join the Reception Class
We have 30 Reception class places available each year. If the school is oversubscribed, applications are considered against the criteria set out below. After the admission of students with Statements of Special Educational Needs where Churchill Gardens Primary Academy is named on the Statement, the criteria will be applied in this order:
- Looked after children and children who were formerly looked after;
- Specific medical needs, social needs and special needs where the application is supported by written specific professional advice as to why the admission to the school is necessary;
- Siblings of students currently attending the school who will continue to do so on the date of admission;
- Nearest walking distance to the school – children who live the nearest distance from the school.
If your child was born between 1 September 2015 and 31 August 2016, he or she will be starting Reception in primary school from September 2020. Applications for admission to Reception class are managed by Westminster City Council. To apply for a place in Reception at Churchill Gardens please apply online via the following link:
Applications open on the 1st of September 2019 for entry to Reception class in September 2020. On-time applications close on the 15th January 2020, and you will be notified of the outcome of your application on 16th April 2020. If your application is not successful, you can put your child’s name on the waiting list managed by Westminster City Council.
If your child has an EHCP, the school named in their Plan must offer them a place. Churchill Gardens can accept students with EHCPs. If your child has an EHCP and you're unsure if a school is suitable for them, you can talk to your allocated EHC Coordinator or SEN Service.
You can ask your local authority to carry out an assessment if you think your child needs an EHC plan:
If your child is being assessed for special educational needs you should follow the standard online application process. If you don't apply for a school place through admissions and your child doesn't get an EHCP you may miss out on a place at one of your preferred schools.
Tours of the academy
Parents and carers are warmly encouraged to visit the school before applying for a place. We offer regular tours of the school, which include tours of the classrooms, halls and playgrounds, and provide an opportunity to see the teaching and learning that takes place. Tours are run in small groups and so you will be able to ask questions.
Tours are currently taking place every Tuesday at 9am.

FUTURE ACADEMIES PROSPECTUS
Churchill Gardens is part of a Multi-Academy Trust called Future Academies. Please use the link below to view our prospectus.
FEEDER SCHOOL TO PIMLICO ACADEMY: PRIORITY APPLICATIONS
Pimlico Academy uses the distance from the child’s home to their school to determine how Year 7 places are allocated. In 2018, 661 children applied for a place at Pimlico Academy. From these students, 86 pupils attended one of Future Academies’ three feeder primaries, Churchill Gardens Primary Academy, Millbank Academy and Pimlico Primary.
457 children, who lived more than 1.529 miles from Pimlico Academy, did not get a Year 7 place:
Attending Churchill Gardens will guarantee a Year 7 place at Pimlico Academy in September 2021, if your child is on-roll by October 31st 2020.
If it has not been possible to offer your child a place at Churchill Gardens, you have the right, by law, to appeal to an independent appeal panel. Please bear in mind that although the law allows you to have the opportunity to appeal against admission decisions, it does not give your child the automatic right to a place at a particular school. There is no guarantee that your appeal will be successful and each case will be decided on its own merits by the independently appointed panel.
Appeals for Churchill Gardens are processed by Westminster City Council, and further information about the process can be found on the Westminster website and in the downloadable leaflet, the Admission Appeals Guide. If you are appealing for Reception 2020, your application outcome letter will include information on the timescale for submitting an appeal.
